We want our polar regions to be healthy, resilient and to have evidence-based conservation measures. Penguin Watch aims to help achieve this goal by bringing large scale monitoring to these regions.
Specifically, we use large- scale monitoring to study penguins and other polar species. By monitoring many sites, we are able to disentangle confounded threats to these species and to study how these have changed throughout history and prehistory.
Our science and monitoring is characterised by a strong desire to be non- or minimally invasive. To these ends, we use time lapse cameras, guano and feather sampling to study populations. We visit a large number of sites each year using tourist ships, ships of opportunity and yachts.
