The UK’s national association of youth exploration societies ‘Giving young people the opportunity to take part in exploration, discovery and challenging adventure.’
The YET is a national charity dedicated to promoting safe and responsible expeditions for young people. It does this by providing advice and support to schools, youth organisations, commercial expedition providers and groups of friends who intend to run their own youth expedition.
As the national voice of youth expeditions the YET also offers a wide range of practical assistance to aspiring or experienced expedition leaders and commercial providers alike, including
A timetable of events throughout the year, including conferences for members and training courses for expedition groups which focus on the skills needed to organise a safe and successful expedition.
A wide range of publications containing guidance on common expedition issues that can be downloaded from the website or ordered directly from the Trust.
Operation of a national expedition evaluation system carried out by an expert panel of assessors who can offer valuable advice and encouragement, ensure expedition plans meet the British Standard, BS8848, and award YET Approval status.
Providing financial support for YET Approved expeditions and young people taking part in adventurous activities through Grant Aid.
By becoming a member of the YET, individuals and organisations can access an extensive community of experts capable of providing tailored one-to-one advice on every aspect of running an expedition.
Making representations, on the behalf of members, to government and other policy-making bodies to promote the value of youth expeditions.
The Trust does not run expeditions itself but whether you are a young person wishing to join an expedition or a leader seeking advice on a new expedition venture, you will find the support and guidance you need within the pages of this website.
